Refreshing rooibos punch

If you’re on the hunt for a thirst quencher, then look no further than Morningside’s Andanté Wiehahn’s wickedly easy recipe for rooibos punch…

Pour 1L of hot water over 4 Rooibos tea bags. Allow to steep and cool for at least 30 minutes. Combine 1 L of ginger ale, 1 L of orange juice, 500 ml of soda water, 500 ml of vodka (lemon flavour works well), gin or cane in a large punch bowl. Add crushed ice. Garnish with mint and lemon slices. Makes 4L.

Tips: You can make a ‘virgin’ punch by leaving out the alcohol. If you like sweeter drinks, add 4Tbls caster sugar to the hot rooibos tea. Freeze mint leaves in ice cubes … not only does it look great but they release fragrance while you’re drinking.
