The real deal

We chat to lead singer of Prime Circle, Ross Learmonth before he rocks out on stage tonight at The Real Concert!

You’ve been in the music industry for over 15 years … what is the one thing that keeps you going and continually stirs your passion for music?

We love to play! It’s a simple answer but it has always been our dream to be touring musicians so we never take for granted the fact that we get to do it every day.

We know it’s got to be a tough call but which of the six albums was your favourite to record?

We love Let the Night In dulux. We had so much fun playing and writing the record. Lots of good memories!

Tell us more about your recent inroads into the European market … how did it come about?

We’ve been traveling to Europe for the last five years, playing at first to one person and then slowly building up a fan base. It’s been a long road, but one we’ve loved.

Ok, back to SA, what is your favourite thing to do when you’ve come home after a tour?

I call up my friends, have a braai and catch up on what I’ve missed out on while we’ve been away.

Tell us what the audience can expect at the Real Concert Series.

The show is going to be different … not only will we will be playing a mixed bag of old and new songs, but the twelve-piece string section is going to really fill up the music sonically and emotionally. There will also be some collaborations between us.

Where would we find you guys on a Friday night?

If we are not performing we all like to do different things … I would either be at an Irish pub or at a friend’s house braaing, the other guys like to be home with their families.

Is there a local musician or band you think we should be keeping an eye on?

Tailor … she is on the rise and we believe will be huge in the rest of the world in the very near future.
