Master of all

Master of all

We spoke to Leandri van der Wat about what her biggest regret was on MasterChef as well as how she keeps her skin so flawless.
  1. How would you sum up your beauty routine?

In one word, it would be simple. I cleanse with Optiphi’s Facial Cleanser, followed by Classic Hydration Tint in Ultra Light. In the evenings, I cleanse with the Facial Cleanser … often I’ll exfoliate using Refine Foliant (a mini-peel, with a blend of Vitamin C and AHA and BHAs which keeps your skin smooth), then apply the Protecting Revitalizer – an amazing pigmentation, ageing, free-radical-busting serum. If my skin feels a bit dry, I top it up with some Hydration Therapy. So easy!

  1. What book could you read again and again?

Pride and Prejudice … I try to read it once a year.

  1. What quote do you live by?

‘Do justice, love mercy, walk humbly.’

  1. What was your biggest regret on hit TV show MasterChef?

That damn brûléed chicken liver parfait in the finale. To recap, I made a boozy chicken liver parfait, served with a granny smith apple and fig chutney and polenta crisps. I decided to brûlée the chicken parfait with demerara sugar (this sugar is already dark brown and turns a very deep brown when brûléed) which looks burnt even though it isn’t (and it has a yummy molasses flavour). The producers decided to edit it so it would look as though it was burnt, and after the finale so many people insulted me about not knowing how to use a blowtorch (they all thought I had burnt the sugar). So, in retrospect, I’d have just done something less open to criticism.
