Spice it up!
Susie Chatz-Anderson and her husband did what many folk only dream about … they resigned from their ‘normal’ office jobs and took a year off to travel from Mexico, through Central and South America to Tierra del Fuego in search of good food and adventure. The result is Susie’s cookbook … A Bite of Latin America … which is crammed with yummy recipes, travel tales and wonderful photographs. Think temptations like Mexican chicken and lime soup and in Central America drunken pork chops, as well as sugar and spice ice cream sandwich (yes, please!). Once in South America proper they dug into delights like Ecuadorian prawn cocktails, Peruvian potato, avocado, tomato and tuna layered stacks, Brazilian prawn pie and upside down banana cake. In Argentina, they tucked into beef and onion pies, mince and potato bake and roast figs served with ice cream. So if you’re planning to spice up your meals, we suggest you grab a copy of this cookbook and have fun. Human & Rousseau, R340.
