Mother knows best
Mother’s Day is around the corner, and it’s a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Without them, we wouldn’t be who we are today!
Professional DJ, Socrates Georgiades (aka DJ Sox): There are too many to mention, but loyalty and respect are the two that stand out for me.
TV Personality, Roxy Burger: I think the one thing I’m incredibly grateful for is the love of reading my mom instilled in me. She read to us and encouraged us to become readers and it’s something I treasure. A gift and lesson that I will share with my daughter.
Professional Rugby Player, Malcolm Marx: My mom passed down the value of respect. She taught me to always be thankful for everything no matter what.
Actress, Nicole Bessick: From a young age, my mother instilled ‘the value of education’ in me. She’s the hardest working person I know and taught me that education is the only thing no one can take away from you. Of course, working in an industry as fickle as mine, having a solid Plan B is essential, so after matriculating with nearly a full house, I chose to keep my field of studies close to home. At varsity, I majored in law and wrote my Honours dissertation on the state of copyright in the South African entertainment industry… so today, I’m pretty versed when it comes to writing and editing my contracts with brands, production companies etc. I owe it all to her. That image was taken at her third graduation last year. She has her Master’s degree specializing in IT Information Systems. What a boss!
TV Presenter, Elle Franco: My mom taught me that I can do anything I put my mind too, and that family comes first.
This Mother’s Day, make sure Mom knows that you are grateful for everything she has done and all that she does do for you.
