The Bokeh Film and Fashion Festival is not to be missed

Heading into its fifth year this year, the Bokeh South African International Lifestyle & Fashion Film Festival has become known as one of the most inspirational and sort after awards for developing and inspiring local emerging local talent in the film, fashion and design space.

This year’s event is presented by Savanna Loco and supported by Mercedes Benz and the red-carpet awards ceremony is set to take place from the 20 to 29 of September in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Over 700 film submissions were received this year of which 130 made the final cut with the Bokeh judges.

Local and international judges for this year’s awards include a host of world-renowned icons – fashion photographers/cinematographers – Rankin and Kristian Schmidt, celebrity stylists and fashionistas – Tracy-Lee Rosslind and Chrisna de Bruyn – J’Something of Mi Casa, Tuna Yilmaz from the Istanbul Fashion Film Festival, Katrina Olson Mottahead from the Canadian Fashion Film Festival and Trend Researcher Analyst Nicola Cooper.

In 2018 Bokeh has also gotten involved in the creative processes of teams from both Johannesburg and Cape Town in the Billy Preston Emerging Creative Talent Award category, and the winning team will be awarded R 50 000 to further their film careers as well as beautifully designed trophies by innovative homeware designer Carrol Boyes.

Every year this unique festival grows exponentially in stature, recognition and initiatives, with an increasing emphasis on enabling young local creatives through fringe events such as workshops, mentoring programmes and of course recognition and prizes through the prestigious awards events.

Bokeh’s main objective is to discover and nurture South African talent in the film, fashion, design, music and technology fields and entries for the 2019 awards are now open on their website.
