Gone To Soon – a tribute show with a difference
Gone To Soon is scheduled to take place at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City with only three shows on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October 2018. The show aims to delight audiences old and young as they celebrate the powerhouse singers that became legends through their music over the past few decades and stars Timothy Moloi, Joseph Clark and Mariechan (of Jamali fame) as well as the Joburg Youth Orchestra.
Take an unforgettable journey of musical nostalgia and heart-warming moments as songs by the likes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, Luther Vandross, George Michael, Elvis Presley, David Bowie and many more come to life on stage. It’s not only internationals though – a number of South African artists will also be recognised, including Brenda Fassie and Mandoza.
And although the show focuses on musicians that are no longer with us – the show also has a keen focus on an inspirational and uplifting atmosphere as well – the memories we have of listening to their music, or possibly even having seen them live on stage and that feeling – not to mention the impact they have had on the music industry as it is today.
The Joburg Youth Orchestra are doing great things at the moment (recently spotted giving it stick – excuse the pun) on stage with the Top 8 Idols finalists a few weeks ago at The State Theatre in Pretoria, and under the baton of Eddie Clayton, they will bring the show to life and assist the performers on stage to recreate 2 hours of amazing musical memories.
Young and old will delight in this show – bring the kids and gran along too for a magical musical journey that will leave you humming your favourites in the car on the way home. We can’t wait!
Tickets range from R150 – R280 and are available on Computicket here…
